Junior Half Marathon - Easter Sunday
This 13-mile race is run on the Wey Navigation, starting at Wey Kayak Club and finishing at Thames Lock, Weybridge. It is exclusively for the under 16s and is run in age groups – Under 12, Under 13, Under 14 and Under 16. There are ten portages, so it is quite a strenuous race, although we do provide support at each lock – giving refreshments and carrying boats. We also ask parents to assist at portages, not only helping their own child but others as well. The whole route can be cycled. Information on the event is circulated to all canoe clubs in the area.

Grand Prix Sprint Event May
There are a series of sprint racing events in the Thames region and one of these is hosted by Elmbridge Canoe Club These low key events are intended as an introduction into a racing situation – a training ground to prepare youngsters for more formal racing events later. As such they are a key part of the development strategy to bring more youngsters into canoe racing.

The event covers time trials in K1 and K2 at 200 and 500 metres, followed by races in groups decided by the time trials. There is usually a 3-kilometre race as well. Lightning classes for the very youngest canoeists are also included.

Divisional Marathon October
This is one of the regional marathons leading to the Hasler Trophy. Classes are run for all abilities from Division 1 to 9 and the event usually attracts over 200 entries from around the region. The club ensures that a beginner's fun race is included for all paddlers who have been canoeing for less than a year as well as a Lightning race. This is a good event for all new club members as they are able to race on a familiar piece of water. We also encourage parents to attend, both to see what goes on and to help with some of the jobs that the organisation of such an event entails.
