Adults Come-and-Try-It Paddle and Barbecue
This is an enjoyable social occasion for all parents and other adults,
who can come and have a go at canoeing without the embarrassment
of a child standing laughing on the bank. (All children are expressly
forbidden from attending this event.)
Full instruction is given in the most stable boats, with opportunities
for advancement for the able. A delicious barbecue and a soothing
glass of wine or beer then follow this. The event is usually held
on a Friday evening in June.
Club Relay Race
One Saturday morning in the summer we encourage all members of
the club to take part in a relay race. Four or five equal teams
are drawn up, comprising anyone from beginners to British Squad
members, who race in either K1 or K2. This is a fiercely competitive
event with senior paddlers wanting to do their best for the youngsters
in their team and new paddlers desperate to prove themselves.
Club AGM
The club’s Annual General Meeting is held in November, usually
followed by a social evening of bonfire and fireworks. It is at
this meeting that members can bring up any topic of concern and
also vote for those who make up the club's committee. See contact
us for a list of committee members.
Annual Awards
We hold an awards evening in December, at which we reward good
performances at all levels throughout the year.
Adults’ Dinner
In January we hold a dinner for adult members of the club, including
parents, which is a good way of catching up with those you only
see in passing and of making new friends.
